ESPARTA Self-Defence
The ESPARTA Combative style of self-defence is based on techniques 1st taught to Special Forces, Commandos and Paratroopers in WWII.
The techniques were then adapted and taught to men and women selected for the SOE (Special Operations Executive) also known as "Churchill's Secret Army" or the "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare".
The adapted techniques were designed for women and took into account the difference in weight, build and strength giving them the best advantage over a bigger stronger enemy.
We teach these easy to learn uncompromising techniques which are as effective today as they were over 75 years ago.
ESPARTA self -defence system is not a sport, a martial art or fitness routine.
Its sole objective is to teach you the skills to defeat an attacker.
Too Aggressive?
Some may think the methods supported in ESPARTA self-defence training too aggressive, but these were methods taught in warfare to stay alive and defeat the enemy.
We now have new enemies and are fighting a new war at home and on the streets. Attacks on women and girls are increasing along with terrorist attacks, knife and anti social behaviour and hate crimes.
In the words of 'Major W E Fairbairn Royal Marines' who developed the combativeness style ESPARTA is based on.
"In war you cannot afford the luxury of squeamishness. Either you kill or capture, or you will be captured or killed. We've got to be tough to win, and we've got to be ruthless - tougher and more ruthless than our enemies."
Our objective :
To educate, train and empower as many people as possible, particularly women and girls with the skill to recognise and avoid danger and defend and protect themselves if required.
train - survive - stay alive
